Backed by decades of expertise in engineering, Mark S. Rudd, MBA has excelled as the president of Rudd Asset Management LLC since 2008. The organization serves to consult in electrical power projects and the development of renewable energy combined heat and power plants. Special focus is on biomass generation with proven power project designs.
Driven by a passion for learning, Mr. Rudd has always been in pursuit of an academic challenge. He initially attended Purdue University, where he enrolled in its nuclear physics program. After a year, he decided he wasn’t interested in teaching and conducting research so he shifted gears and chose nuclear engineering. Ultimately, he was part of the first undergraduate nuclear engineering class at the school. He was the only one of the 17 class graduates who chose to accept a job in the field immediately upon graduating. He ultimately ventured to Paris, France. There, he worked as a nuclear engineer designing and operating irradiated nuclear fuels shipping before returning to his home state of Indiana and becoming the Nuclear Engineer of the Bailly Nuclear One power plant and finally Plant Manager of the Schahfer Generation Station for Northern Indiana Public Service Company. During his time there, he developed an expertise in fossil fuels, coal, steam generation, natural gas, combustion turbines, environmental control systems, and hydro plants. A renowned figure in his industry, Mr. Rudd has been recognized with an EPRI Innovations Award from the Electric Power Research Institute and maintains his longstanding affiliation with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Association of Energy Engineers.
This knowledge and experience became the foundation for creating energy systems that are both technically sound and financially successful. He received his MBA from The University of Chicago with heavy focus on quantitative analysis. Combing solid engineering designs with Monte Carlo simulation are vital tools for risk management and optimization of financial results.
Looking toward the future, he aspires to contribute to the United States by utilizing green energy sources or taking waste products to create renewable energy for the country and its people. Outside of his primary endeavors in energy, Mr. Rudd is proud of his work as a high school basketball coach for Special Olympics Indiana, through which his teams won 15 state tournaments.
